  1. The Lakers were ahead three games to
  2. two in the 1980 NBA Finals. One more win
  3. over the Philadelphia 76ers and they would
  4. capture the NBA title. But the LakersΓÇÖ
  5. superstar center, 7' 2" Kareem Abdul-
  6. Jabbar, was injured and couldnΓÇÖt start in
  7. Game 6. Los Angeles made a bold move
  8. and started Magic Johnson at center. At
  9. 6'9" and 220 pounds, Magic was big for a
  10. guard, but he was small compared to
  11. some of the giants playing center in the
  12. NBA. The center position is also rough and
  13. demands special skills, and Magic hadnΓÇÖt
  14. played a game at center since high school.
  15. No problem. Magic had a great game. He
  16. scored 42 points to go along with 15
  17. rebounds and 7 assists as the Lakers won
  18. the game and the championship.
